2020 Census

The East Rochester Union Free School District is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau to make sure no one goes uncounted in the 2020 Census, a nationwide population count taken every 10 years. Census data determines the allocation of more than $675 billion in federal funding to states and communities for the next 10 years, as well as the apportionment of Congressional seats and redistricting at all levels of government.

Specifically, federal spending programs that impact schools and students include programs and services such as special education, free and reduced-price lunch, and classroom technology.

When is 2020 Census?
Census Day is April 1, 2020, but the online tool will start accepting responses in mid-March. Households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census in mid-March.

Confidentiality
Census responses are safe and secure. The U.S. Census Bureau is required by law to protect all personal information, and it is strictly confidential. Your answers cannot be used against you by any court or governmental agency, including the FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security, or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Participating in the census
For the first time, the U.S. Census Bureau will accept responses online through a secure internet response form, by phone, by mail and by an in-person interview conducted through a home visit.

Please help ensure that everyone in the East Rochester community is counted by participating in the 2020 Census. Learn more about the 2020 Census by visiting the U.S. Census Bureau website:
