Primary Project award

East Rochester Union Free School District is happy to share that the Elementary School was awarded $750 by the Children's Institute as part of their Primary Project: Reimagine and Cultivate grant program!

The money from the grant will help the district purchase play boxes for the playroom at the Elementary School, helping to make a COVID-style Primary Project possible within the district. The grant will also help create resources to help sustain the program in the future.

Primary Project is a nationally recognized program that helps children in pre-K through third grade adjust to their environment, gain confidence, social skills, and focus on learning. Primary Project has over 60 years of success addressing children’s mild to moderate adjustment difficulties and increasing their chance of success. It can be implemented in schools in person or virtually, including in home-based learning environments.

Positive relationships are critical to school success! In Primary Project, children are paired with a specially trained professional and are seen weekly for 30-40 minutes for 12-15 sessions of play.
