HS presents "The Wizard of Oz"

POSTPONED: High School to present “The Wizard of Oz,” March 26-28
The Wizard of OzEast Rochester High School will present its spring musical, “The Wizard of Oz,” for three shows, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. and March 27-28 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Based on L. Frank Baum’s novel and the classic 1939 film, this musical adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz” features many familiar songs, including “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead,” “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” The cast has been busy preparing since November for the production that will take audiences on an unforgettable journey down the yellow brick road to the land of Oz.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz,” a special anniversary dinner and show will be held on Thursday, March 26. The dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. and the performance at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will be catered by Good Smoke BBQ. Tickets are $10 and reservations are due by March 23. Cash, checks (payable to ER PTA), or Venmo (@ER-PTA) accepted. The musical is directed by Denise Alfieri with vocal direction by East Rochester Class of 2011 alumni Amanda Joseph and choreography by Lisa Cook. It includes approximately 27 cast members, 10 stage crew and 40 munchkins (fourth and fifth grade chorus students).
