Welcome message from Superintendent Jim Haugh

Welcome message from Superintendent Jim Haugh
Superintendent Jim Haugh

East Rochester families,

I would like to begin my introduction by thanking this community for your continued patience and understanding as our district tries to navigate the challenges brought forward by the COVID-19 pandemic. I would also like to thank our administrative team, Richard Stutzman and representatives from our employee bargaining units for their work on our re-entry plans. These initial plans will be under constant review so that we, as a district, are being responsive to issues as they arise.

As part of my entry plan during my first year in the East Rochester school family, I will be meeting with stakeholders in small groups to gain a perspective of what our community values from the school district and what areas we need to continue to seek growth. The data generated from these meetings will help to formulate our strategic planning in all areas of district operations while focusing on instructional and social-emotional targets for students.

As a school community, we will continue meeting the needs of our students, faculty and staff as we manage uncharted territory as the pandemic continues to impact our personal and professional lives. We are committed, as a school district, to continually seek to improve our practices and strive to provide opportunities for all students to be successful during a given school year and, most importantly, instill the skills needed for individual success beyond the confines of our school building’s walls.

The immediate focus of our district and my efforts as superintendent will be instituting our safety protocols for our students and staff, remediating academic and social-emotional regression due to the interrupted end of the 2019-20 school year, and being prepared to continue exemplary instruction for students. We will be prepared to instruct in-person, remotely or in a hybrid model, as required.

I look forward to our work together as a school community, providing resources to our students so they may be prepared for success as they progress through our grade levels and on to future endeavors. Thank you in advance for your support of our schools. We look forward to the 2020-21 school year. We Are ER!

Warmest regards,

Jim Haugh
