East Rochester Union Free School District announces appointment
of Scott Wilcox as Superintendent of Schools
East Rochester Union Free School District (East Rochester, NY) – The Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Wilcox as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Wilcox was selected following a comprehensive and competitive search process led by Monroe One BOCES.
Mr. Wilcox brings nearly three decades of experience in public and international education, including 19 years as an administrator and eight years as a classroom teacher. Most recently, he served as Deputy Head of School for Learning at the American School in Japan. In this role, he led schoolwide strategy and educational programming, led the systemwide integration of a Portrait of a Graduate framework, and supported the development of principals, school leaders, and teachers.
Prior to his work in Japan, Mr. Wilcox served as principal of Plank Road South Elementary School from 2015 to 2019, where he led a K–5 school of 600 students in the Webster Central School District. His leadership strengthened instructional practices, expanded social-emotional learning supports, and improved student achievement through data-informed interventions. Earlier in his career, he served as Primary School Principal and K–12 Curriculum Director at Dubai American Academy, leading inquiry-based, STEAM-focused instructional initiatives that improved early literacy outcomes and fostered innovation.
Mr. Wilcox began his career as a teacher in 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard College, a Master of Education from the University of Missouri–Columbia, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from SUNY Brockport. He holds permanent New York State certifications as a School District Administrator and School Administrator/Supervisor.
Mr. Wilcox will assume the role of Superintendent this summer, providing a meaningful transition before the start of the 2026-27 school year.
