Lady Bombers win

The East Rochester Girls Varsity Basketball team brought home the Section V Class C Championship Block after defeating the #7 see Alexander Trojans 61-37! Following a 19-1 regular season the Lady Bombers basketball team improved their overall record to 22-1.

The Lady Bombers were met with the traditional East Rochester victory parade, complete with firetrucks and fans, as they returned from the game at Rush Henrietta Schools on Saturday. Click here for video.

This is the second season in a row, under the direction of  Mark Florack and Kristina D’Ercole, the team has brought home the Sectional Championship Block.

In addition to the amazing season, senior Sam Lewis had an exceptional season and was named class C1’s MVP for the 2022 Class C Tournament. Earlier this season, Sam broke the 26-year-old all time scoring record of 1426 points, making her the leading scorer of all time- male or female- for East Rochester Schools. Congratulations Sam! Sam was joined on the all-tournament team by Junior Lily Funk and Sophomore Zarriah Eldridge following their outstanding performances throughout the C1 tournament.

The team went on to defeat Pavilion in the Class C Regional Qualifier game Wednesday, March 9, 56-42.

The next step for the team was the Far West Regional State Qualifier game on Saturday, March 12. The team played Frewsberg in a tight came. Frewsburg came back from a 21 point deficit to lead in the third quarter and tie the game in quarter four, but the Lady Bombers were able to pull through and advance on to the Class C State Semifinals.

In doing so, the team made history by becoming the first basketball team in school history to make it to reach the state final four!

The semifinal match-up against Millbrook will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, at Hudson Valley Community College. The team left for the greater Albany area earlier this morning, to the sound of the entire school cheering them on. (To view photos from their departure celebration, click here.)
