ER Students Qualify for Mathematics Tournament
Posted on 04/18/2024
Congratulations to our second grade students, Matthew Paratore, Daniel Walter and Maxwell Stahl for making the New York Statewide Elementary Mathematics Tournament. The tournament is composed of teams of 15 students per region, with three students from the same school and same grade level (one team each from grades 1 through 5). Only 150 children qualified to attend. The Statewide Mathematics Tournament will be held on June 1, 2024 at The State University of New York at Albany. The competition will test fact fluency, automaticity, and problem solving as the competitors will work together in a group setting using game cards to strengthen their skills and demonstrate their understanding.

Second Grade Teacher Julia Blatter was thrilled to hear the announcement, “I am so incredibly proud of these students and their hard work. They are always eager to try their best in math and go for the extra challenge. It was so awesome to see the excitement on their faces but also to see the good sportsmanship they showed to their fellow peers who didn’t make it to the next round. Their love of learning is contagious and I’m so grateful to be their teacher. This competition will be such a cool experience for all of us and no matter the outcome this will be a memory we will never forget!”
